Gopal Bhar was a legendary court motley fool in medieval Bengal. He was within the court of Raja Krishnachandra, the renowned king of Nadia within the eighteenth century AD. Such was the genius of Gopal that the King thought of him as a Navaratna of his court. His sculpture will still be seen within the palace of Raja Krishnachandra. Stories concerning his exploits ar narrated in {bengal|Bengal|geographical ara|geographic area|geographical region|geographic region} to the current day and are immortalized in multitudinous short stories. The stories ar short, beautiful, facetious and have a particular social message. Gopal Bhar is legendary for stories of his knowledge, during which he outwits different fellow courtiers.
